Lightning Senior Women’s Competitive Team

Starting in 2022, we began a Senior Women’s Competitive Lightning Tournament Team, for ages 18 and older, governed by Collingwood Girls HA and Ontario Women’s Hockey Association.

How many games can I expect to play?

The regular season runs October to early February. Senior’s will participate in 1-2 exhibition games per month, October-February. Starting in February, the team will participate in OWHA Provincial playdown games. The OWHA Provincials tournament is held in early April. Home games will typically be on Sundays at 5pm.

How much practice time will I have?
There will be approximately 5-7 practices through the season pending exhibition games. Practice ice is set aside for Sunday at 5pm.

What about tournaments?
Most Collingwood Lightning competitive teams enter two or three tournaments during the year - this is decided upon by the senior team as a whole.

**UPDATE Tentative Tournaments TBC**

Grand River November 8-10

Orangeville January 24-26

Barrie February 15-17

How far will I have to drive?
The Senior Women’s Team typically plays teams from Midland, Orilla, Wiarton, New Tecumseth and Huntsville. Travel will be within 1-2 hours.

Is there an extra cost?
The Senior Women's team will not be required to pay an additional Association Rep Fee.  The season fee is $550, this includes three tournaments, practice ice, exhibition games, OWHA/Hockey Canada insurance, OWHA Provincial bond and access to COLGHA Lightning jerseys for the season (must be handed back at the end of the season). Any extra activities or team swag will be tallied to create a team budget and shared among the whole team. Additional fees will be applied when the team qualifies for OWHA Provincials.

How competitive is it?
Most Senior teams compete in the B and C categories.  Lightning competitive teams are typically registered in the BB and B (C for senior) categories.  Our emphasis is on fair ice time for all players and having fun, as well as playing at a level that suits the player (or team) best.

Any special equipment requirements?
All Lightning competitive players are expected to purchase our custom socks. We strongly encourage players to proudly represent the Association through the wearing of Lightning clothing off-ice to games and tournaments. You may access the UNIFORM FACTORY for socks and Lightning attire.
