2026-2027 TRYOUT INFORMATION

Important Note: before registering for tryouts, please review the 2026-27 Registration General Information page on our WEBSITE, which includes important information about projected fees, payment timelines, and association requirements.

Competitive teams are a very big commitment; family time, financial obligations, travel requirements, tournament costs, weekly practices/skills sessions etc. Competitive Programs cost significantly more for the association and in turn families. Please review these costs and discuss your player commitment.

REGISTRATION & ARRIVAL INFORMATION

1. Advance registration is required for tryout participants. Tryout packages will CLOSE April 24th 2026 at 9am. A $25 surcharge will apply to all late registrations. Registrations after tryouts have commenced may not be accepted.

Once in the registration system, you will notice we are still working under the 2025-26 season, please continue on and choose the appropriate 2026-27 tryout package for your players age division.

2. All tryouts after the first session for each team are by invitation only. Participants may not join tryouts for a team after the first tryout unless granted permission in advance by the coach. 

COLGHA will look to offer U9B, U11A, U11B/BB, U13A, U13B/BB, U15A, U15B/BB, U18A, U18B/BB, Senior A/BB and Senior C for the 2026-2027 season (levels pending player/team abilities).

U9B tryouts will take place in September 2026, pending tryout packages purchased and registration numbers. Tryout registration packages for the U9 Competitive Team will open at the same time as regular season registration, June 2026. 

Senior C registration will commence June 2026. 

3. The tryout registration fee paid covers participation for all teams within the age division. Players not invited to return to the second tryout for an A team, or who are not among the final selections for an A team, may attend the first tryout session for the next team, without additional registration. 

4. The first session for SOME teams has been divided into 2 groups. Last names that begin with A-L, and last names that begin with M-Z. Please click on the website TIMESLOT for details regarding groupings. Some minor adjustments may be required after registration is closed - players will be contacted if adjustments are made.

5. Players should plan to arrive 30-60 minutes before the posted start time of the tryout session. All players must check-in with team volunteers in the foyer of the rink. Late arriving players may not be permitted entry.

6. Tryout jerseys will be assigned to each player and will be returned to the volunteer table after EACH skate. While jersey deposits will not be collected, players may be charged for any unreturned jerseys.

TRYOUT FEES & ELIGIBILITY

COLGHA will use a flat-fee registration system for TRYOUTS. All participants will register only once and pay the same registration fee regardless of the number of tryout sessions. Players can be released after the first skate for A and after the first skate for B/BB. 

• Tryout attendance is mandatory for selection. To be selected to one of our U9, U11, U13, U15, U18 or Senior competitive teams for the 2026-2027 season, players must register for and participate in the tryout process. Health exceptions for those unable to participate will be considered on a case-by-case basis and MUST be in writing prior to tryouts. • ALL players that currently belong to another OWHA association and are planning to attend Lightning TRYOUTS must log into our Ramp REGISTRATION portal to PURCHASE a Lightning 2026-27 TRYOUT PACKAGE for their age division. Players who were registered with another OWHA association for the 2025-2026 season (or before) will require a valid Permission to Tryout form issued by the current or last association. HARD COPIES ONLY will be accepted. For further information regarding player movement, tampering and tryout policies, please visit our WEBSITE. 

• Players who have previously played with an Ontario Minor Hockey Association team and are planning to attend Lightning TRYOUTS must log into our Ramp REGISTRATION portal to PURCHASE a Lightning 2026-2027 TRYOUT PACKAGE for their age division. No further action is required, as long as they have never been registered with an OWHA association - otherwise a Permission to Tryout Form is required.

• If selected to a COLGHA Competitive Team, registration with COLGHA Lightning will trigger a release from the player’s previous association and the transfer of their membership to COLGHA. Players must ensure that all requirements for release from their previous association are met.

INVITATIONS TO RETURN & FINAL SELECTIONS

Players invited to return to the next tryout session of each TEAM will be listed under the tab TRYOUT RESULTS 2026-27. This tab can be found on our WEBSITE under the tab REGISTRATION. 

FINAL team placements will also be posted under the tab TRYOUT RESULTS 26/27.

Login to https://www.rampregistrations.com/login?v3=df4c7b09ce using the same email and password used to register the player. Players will be identified by their REGISTRATION ID#. To find your player’s REGISTRATION ID number, please follow these steps:

1. On the left-side menu click on TRANSACTIONS, and then TRANSACTION HISTORY.

2. Locate the registration for 2026-2027 Competitive Tryouts and record your REGISTRATION ID found near the top, under the price.

3. Write this number down as it will be used throughout the tryout process to identify players for Invitation to Return and Final Selection lists.

TRYOUT DATES, TIMES & LOCATION

Please click on the above link to view our master calendar with all division Tryout dates and locations. Under Collingwood Lightning Teams, you will find the drop down list. Choose “Competitive Tryouts” and then the division your player is in for the full tryout schedule April/May.  

Please note that some divisions are split into two groups, with the last name A-L and the last name M-Z. Please click on the time slot to view the details for each tryout date. For example, on April 25th the U13A tryout details will look like the below:
