Happy New Year Lightning Families! We miss you all terribly.
As you know, Ontario is facing further restrictions for another 28 days (February 11th). The COLGHA is in favour of extending the hockey season when it is safe and viable to return. Once appropriate, you will receive a brief survey or email in regards to extended programming.
We recognize the importance of sport and hockey and we value our members and participants. As in a hockey game, we face a bad bounce that can give us a loss or a victory and we move on with strength of character and the support of our teammates.
Covid-19 is a reality we cannot change. The skills we have learned through sport will give us the tools we need to manage our attitude and reactions as we work through the challenges, with a vision of returning to our teammates and our game.
We urge our players to look at the strength in character they are gaining through the pandemic. There will be opportunities in the future, within sport and life. We urge everyone to be kind to yourself and understand that you are truly not alone and accept the strength and support of others.
In an effort to connect with one another we have launched the Lightning Ladies Outdoor Challenge. It's Easy! Text a photo of your outdoor activity to 705-888-5374. Every activity earns a point for your team. Two points if you're sporting Lightning gear. Remember to include your current jersey number and team name. Prizes for each division winner! Bench staff are welcome to participate. GET OUTSIDE!! Walk the dog, shovel your driveway, build a snowman, hit the ODR. There are so many options to #stayintheplay
Photos and tally are posted on our private Instagram page and Facebook Lightning Ladies Outdoor Challenge Album.
