We’ve learned how to manage and adapt to scheduling, new technology, arena changes, tight timelines, limited resources and outside support. Above all, we’ve managed to do it without our kids feeling those pressures. Their job has been to come to the rink, be with their friends, exercise and have one hour where they didn’t have to deal with the world around them. Isn’t that what we want for them? Just one hour of pure hockey fun.
As much as we have all followed and complied with the various rules and protocols, so much of this is out of our control. Collectively we have done everything we can to keep one another safe.
So, as we move forward with these new restrictions, we focus on what’s ahead and not what we’ve lost. Are we happy about this? Do we expect you to be happy about this? Absolutely not.
There was a time not long ago, where girl's hockey in the Collingwood and surrounding area was not an option for our daughters. You would have to travel over an hour to participate with other girls. Imagine for just a moment, if this was still the case? Would you be doing that this year given the circumstances? Think of the opportunities, friendships, experiences and development our daughters have acquired in such a short time. The same people that worked so hard to bring these opportunities to your girls are still here, working to maintain it. We will do everything in our power to carry on.
The COLGHA has always put the safety and well-being of our players and families before hockey opportunities. With this in mind, we have decided to pause operations beginning Monday December 14th and begin our holiday break one week early. We are optimistic and hope to return to hockey early January. Keep an eye on our website, we will continue to update you as we get closer to our start-up date. Please do not make any further payments until we know what’s next.
This weekend will proceed as planned. Don't forget your donations towards My Friends House. If we had to pause on a high note, helping another organization is certainly a great way to do it!
Have a wonderful Christmas, stay strong, stay healthy and above all, stay connected.
See you this weekend (and in the New Year.)
All the best, COLGHA
