Submitted By Val Campbell on Friday, March 13, 2020
Collingwood Lightning Players, Parent, Coaches and Volunteers

Hockey Canada, as a result of Covid-19, and in support of player and participant safety has cancelled all Hockey Canada sanctioned activities, including National Championships until further notice, effective Friday , March 13 2020.

The Ontario Women's Hockey Association has communicated that all OWHA games, practices, tryouts and sanctioned activities have been cancelled effective 12:01am Friday March 13, 2020 until further notice.

Unfortunately, this means OWHA Provincial Championships, Lower Lakes Female Hockey Championships, and Simcoe-Muskoka Girls Hockey league Championship Weekend will not be held this year. (Please see attached Hockey Canada Statement and OWHA communication)

Please be patient as we absorb this information.
We will communicate as best we can when new direction and information is shared.
This is an abrupt end to our 2019/2020 season however, we would like thank all of our coaches and volunteers for the time and effort they have put into this amazing Association and our girls.

Congratulations to all of our players for their grit, dedication, determination, sportsmanship, and love of hockey!  They have truly made an impact on our hockey community and should be so proud. Lastly, thank you parents for your patience, support and encouragement.
We look forward to communicating when we can get together to celebrate the girls and their Season.
Definitely one that will not be forgotten.
Sincerely,
Katy Bloemendal
President Collingwood Girls Hockey Association.
